Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving

Thank you to everyone who posted well wishes for Jake. It truly brought me to tears reading your comments and emails and I realize just how much everyone loves and adores their pets as much as we do. I just received a call from the vet and his tests look great! So...we just have to watch him to see if it happens again and go from there. I guess these seizures happen more often in pure breeds and sometimes only once in their lives. Lets hope this is the case. Again....thank you for the love and support...

Happy Thanksgiving...I hope you are spending this holiday with the ones you love.

xoxo

My Best Little Friend

I have been a bit emotional today....as many of you know, my dog Jake is a huge part of our little family. I carried him home in my lap when he was just a puppy...he still lays in my lap at 7 years old and 75 lbs. I taught him to ring the bell when he needs to go outside and all the other crazy dog tricks he does. He follows me around the house waiting for my next move, always wearing whatever project I am working on, glitter, glue, paint, even a bit of fabric. He is happy to have me sit still so he can nap, but is the first one out the door when asked if he wants to go for a ride. He comes with me when I am working at the barn patiently waiting for the day to end and protects me from anyone who tries to enter.I fell asleep on the couch last night with Jake next to me and I awoke suddenly at 2:30am to the sound of paws running fast on the wood floor and knew immediately there was something terribly wrong. I was half asleep and couldn't see a thing, but called out Jakes name many times. I didn't know if he was chasing someone or something, but it sounded like there were 4 animals in the house. Barry woke up from my screaming and quickly turned on the light and ran over to Jake where he fell to the floor. Jake lay on the kitchen floor with his legs stiff....Barry was talking to him and petting him trying to calm him down as he was panting and in a horrible state. Kylee woke up from my screaming, ran downstairs and held Jakes head. Barry just kept saying its ok to go, its ok to go, he's dying just let him know we are here. I still couldn't bring myself to go in the room, crying and scared. As soon as I really heard what Barry was saying I ran in the room and started petting Jake and talking to him, he popped his head up and started to breathe normally. He was scared and confused but began to come around....we gave him a bath at 3am and lay with him for hours until we all fell asleep. From what I have researched, he had a bad seizure and will be at the vet in the morning. Right now Jake lays on my lap as I am typing looking peaceful and not wanting to be alone. He got lots of love today and we hope for the best in the days to come.
I am so thankful for my family today...a true test of how our little family can rally together and support each other. A good lesson for all of us to be nice to each other, never go to bed mad or leave the house with ill feelings....you never know what the next moment will bring. Take time to enjoy the moment and love each other. Give your family and your pets extra love tonight!!
